DEVELOPING: At least 16 car burglaries reported near the Longleaf Subdivision in Gainesville

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office is calling on the public to help solve a string of car burglaries near the Longleaf Subdivision in Gainesville.

According to officials, at least 16 car burglaries were reported in the area off of Southwest Archer Road with the first being called-in around 5:40 a.m. on Saturday.

The first vehicle broken into was one belonging to ASO; it had had its glass smashed in and while no equipment was stolen, several of the deputy's personal items were taken.

The other vehicles that were broken into over the course of the day did not require forced entry.

Officials with the Alachua County Sheriff's office are working on several leads and are currently asking for any surveillance footage from nearby homes or cameras in the area.
