GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -- UPDATE 11:45PM 5/11/2019:
GPD has confirmed that all suspects believed to be involved in the shooting have been apprehended.
One man is in custody after shots broke out at an apartment complex in midtown Gainesville Saturday afternoon.

A GPD officer walks a suspect through the parking lot in front of the midtown apartment complex.

Reports of shots fired came in around 3:00 p.m., with Gainesville Police responding shortly after. The address of the shots fired scene, as distributed in a UF Alert, was 300 N.W. 18th St., just a couple blocks north of University Ave.

No injuries or deaths were reported on scene, according to GPD.

TV20's David Jones arrived on scene where officers were walking the suspect through the parking lot to be placed into a patrol car. He was later treated by Alachua County Fire Rescue while at the crime scene.

According to GPD Sergeant John Mazzuca, a large group of people was gathered before the shots broke out. Mazzuca would not confirm whether more suspects had escaped, but a UF Alert said two suspects, a black male and black female, fled in a white Ford SUV.

TV20 spoke to witnesses on the scene who said they saw the detained suspect with a gun during the incident. Officers questioned the same witnesses.

"I heard six gunshots go off like that way. Not in the direction of him, I guess the sound traveled," said neighbor Sabrina Alvarez. "I heard people yelling to get down, and I looked out the window and I saw this guy with a gun crouching down going back and forth, looking like he was looking for someone specific."

GPD reached out to local hospitals and told staff to be on alert for any gunshot victims that may come in.
