GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)

Part of Celebration Pointe was locked down Monday afternoon as Alachua County's Bomb Squad investigated two suspicious packages left in the parking lot.

Deputies with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office reported the backpacks around 2:00 p.m.

Bomb squad members performed an X-ray on the back-packs and deemed them to be suspicious.

Around 3:30 p.m., bystanders reported hearing a loud bang. This was a charge set off by the squad to safely reveal the contents of the bag.

Deputies told TV20 the bags likely contained camping equipment but the investigation into the incident isn't over, according to Sergeant Frank Kinsey with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.

"The contents are in the process now of being photographed and documented by our forensic units," said the ASO spokesperson. "And the detectives are here, working on their timeline and surveillance to see how and when and why these came to be in this parking lot."
