ALACHUA CO., Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County leaders have postponed negotiations with Base Camp Ventures to lease the camp after base camp's Jordan Richmond was fired from his job with the Girl Scouts.

It was revealed Richmond's contract was not renewed in 2016 after an investigation uncovered an apparent relationship with a student.

The girl scouts released a statement: "In light of past allegations against a staff member, the council took swift action. Our primary focus is and will continue to be on the safety of our girls."

However, Richmond issued a statement in response which read, "The allegations from 3 years ago were proved to be unfounded. There was an extensive investigation done by both the school system and the state of Florida, which lead to no criminal charges or findings. Everything else that was said was hearsay and nothing more."
