CareerSource North Central Florida is out of a job... for now.
Faced with no other choice, the Alachua County Commission voted to ask the workforce agency for Citrus, Levy, and Marion Counties to temporarily operate programs now run by CareerSource.
The Department of Economic Opportunity had sanctioned CareerSource's board, claiming a lack of accountability.
The state now only reimburses their bills, meaning vendors have not been paid for eight weeks, and the primary entity that runs CareerSource's programs will stop working on Friday.
The Citrus, Levy, and Marion agency board will meet tomorrow to consider whether to temporarily run job programs in Alachua and Bradford Counties.
