According to Ocala Police, on Sunday, December 16, 2018, an officer responded to NW 35th Avenue Road in reference to a forklift accident. Once officers arrived Ocala Fire and Rescue started to give CPR to Robert Pete.

Pete was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead.

OSHA investigators say they arrived on scene and completed their own investigation. CID was notified, and a detective responded and assisted in conducting interviews with the witnesses.

Based on the investigation there is no suspected foul play. Officers did not find any sign of physical trauma to Pete’s body.

Ocala Police says that pending final determination from the Medical Examiner, this appears to have been a medical emergency. An initial review suggests that he may have had a heart attack.
