City of Alachua candidates are set for April election

ALACHUA, Fla. (WCJB)-- The qualifying period for the city of Alachua election has closed and the candidates are set. Two seats are open, the mayor and a commission seat.

Mayoral candidates are incumbent Gib Coerper and challengers Douglas Hancock and Gregory Pelham Senior.

For City Commission Seat 2, incumbent Robert Wilford is being challenged by Malcolm Dixon.

The terms for both seats will end in April 2022 and the election will be Tuesday, April 9th, 2019.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on election day at the following polling places:

- Legacy Park Multipurpose Center, 15400 Peggy Road Alachua, FL 32615

- Cleather Hathcock, Sr. Community Center, 15818 NW 140th Street Alachua, FL 32615

- The Clubhouse at Turkey Creek 11400 Turkey Creek Blvd. Alachua, FL 32615
