GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- Two major entities in Gainesville are getting back together after splitting for a year.
The City of Gainesville filed paperwork to rejoin the Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce following a recent vote by the city commission.
The city decided to cut ties with the chamber based on what it viewed as inappropriate billing practices. The chamber was billing customers through membership renewals that went toward the chamber's political action committee.
Now that the city has decided to rejoin the chamber following the closure of the PAC, the chamber hopes to work together to fix the issues facing the greater Gainesville community.
Some of the issues the chamber hopes to address are poverty, hunger, and affordable housing.
