City of Ocala opens internal search for new city manager
The search is on for a new Ocala City Manager. In December the now-former City Manager John Zobler sent a letter to city council members stating that he will retire in January.
At Tuesday night's city council meeting, the council decided to conduct the search internally and if no qualified candidates apply, they will expand the search.
The city's human resources department posted the job listing Wednesday for current employees to apply.
"We have a city filled with a lot of great experienced and talented people and we encourage each of our employees to take the time and initiative to go ahead and apply if they feel as though they are qualified for this position," Marketing and Communications Manager for the City of Ocala, Ashley Dobbs said.
The job listing will be posted until January 24th. Candidates will then be interviewed by council members to determine if they are the right fit for the position.
Deputy City Manager Sandra Wilson is serving until the seat is filled.
