The collegiate plant initiative held a "plant drop" giving away free plants on the UF campus today. Unless you got there early, you probably left empty handed.

It took just eight minutes for the initiative to give away all one thousand plants. Their goal is to connect college students with industry opportunities in horticulture, no matter their major, and they decided the giveaway was the best way to get the word out.

What we really want to do is be able to present opportunities to all of the different students at the University of Florida whether you're a plant science major or a PR major like me. And so a lot of students don't realize that there are opportunities in the horticulture industry if you're not a horticulture major."

With the success of today's plant drop, the initiative plans to recreate this event at other universities across the nation.
