Columbia County corrections officer meets kidney donor for the first time

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- Christmas has come early for one Columbia County corrections officer after he received a call that he will be getting a new kidney.

In November, we introduced you to Demarcus Graham, who despite being diagnosed with end-stage renal failure, continues to balance working six days a week at the Columbia County jail with his dialysis treatments.

Sarah Podobinski of Gainesville saw Demarcus's story on facebook and signed up to see if she was a match.

After going through an array of tests and doctors appointments, Sarah gave Demarcus a call and let him know he would be getting a kidney.

Demarcus and Sarah Podobinski met for the first time during an exclusive interview with TV20.

As a precaution, Demarcus will stay on the living donor list until his scheduled transplant on December 21st.
