Twenty-year-old UF student dies after being struck by a car

The University of Florida community is mourning one of its own after a student died crossing the street.

UF student, Denise Griffiths, 20, was hit while crossing at the intersection of East University Avenue and Southeast 25th street, Gainesville Police said.

Authorities are treating the incident as a traffic homicide investigation. Griffiths was taken to UF Health Shands where she died.

A GoFundMe has been organized asking for donations toward medical and funeral expenses.
