Cox Communications surprise a group of students
A select group of students at Gainesville and Eastside High Schools got a big surprise this morning. 20 students in total between the two schools received new laptops. These students are a part of the Take Stock In Children Program.
Brandon bates is an 11th-grade student at Gainesville High School. He says, he was thankful to receive the computer.
"I was glad I got it because I actually needed a laptop. I can do a lot more work now. I can work here or at the library or somewhere with the internet," said Bates.
The laptops were donated by cox communications. Rachel Debigare is the executive director of the education foundation that oversees the program says these students work hard in the classroom, and this is their reward
" Each one of these students has above a 3.5 GPA. Their working supper hard in school," said Debigare.
The presentations took place at both schools this morning. The foundation factored in the schools' needs when deciding who to provide the laptops too.
