Crash in Ocala electrocutes driver; causes power outages

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) — A crash in Ocala on Friday morning sent a driver to the hospital after they hit a power pole, electrocuting them.

In a Facebook post, Ocala Police say that they responded to a crash near 600 SE 17th Street. They say a car crashed into a cable box and power pole which knocked out power and electrocuting the driver.

The driver was taken to a local hospital and police say is doing well.

Ocala Electric Utility is conducting repairs and the outside westbound lanes on SE 17th St. are expected to be blocked.

Ocala Police say Cox Cable and Century Link were notified of the damage and customers may experience interruptions in their services.
