Critical injuries in van crash on I-75

ALACHUA, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County officials shut down all southbound lanes of I-75 due to a major accident Saturday.

A van in one of the southbound lanes overturned near mile-marker 401 after one of their tires failed and the driver was unable to maintain control of the van, causing it to roll multiple times.

One of the eight passengers was ejected from the van during the crash. The victim was airlifted to UF Health Shands hospital due to critical injuries, and the other seven passengers were taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

The crash is still under investigation.
