ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) – DNA evidence revealed the identity of a man linked to an armed carjacking, police said.

Last May, Arthur Lang, 40, put a gun up to a woman's head and forced her out of her car, Gainesville Police said. He then drove off.

After crashing into a tree, Lang ran from the scene leaving a shoe behind.

Later that month, Lang was arrested for another vehicle theft and the first victim identified him from a mugshot.

He denied the crime, but DNA evidence recovered from the shoe now has Lang facing charges of armed carjacking.
