GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- A man was injured after being shot in the leg while a second was arrested, Saturday evening, according to an arrest report from the Gainesville Police Department.

Officers said Edward Tywarn Martin Jr., 21, and the victim had been arguing for days.

Then, on Saturday, detectives said the victim and several other people went to Martin’s home on Northwest 3rd Avenue where they beat up Martin.

That’s when officers said Martin went into his home and returned with a gun. They said he shot one person in the leg and nearly hit another.

During questioning, Martin admitted to retrieving the gun and going back outside. However, he also said he could have stayed inside and called police.

Martin was booked into the Alachua County Jail on charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
