Eight candidates qualify for Gainesville's March municipal election

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -

Eight candidates qualified to run for three seats on the Gainesville City Commission in the March municipal election.

Four candidates met Friday's noon deadline to qualify for the at large District 2 seat being vacated by Helen Warren.

The list includes former City Commissioner Scherwin Henry, community activist Gabe Kaimowitz, retired businessman Paul Rhodenizer, and legal aid Reina Saco.

Incumbents Harvey Ward and David Arreola will be challenged by commercial realtor David Walle and legal assistant Jennifer Reid.
