Volunteers from Florida Gateway College in Lake City arrived in Panama City Wednesday, exactly six months since Hurricane Michael hit the Panhandle.
For the last month, FGC has been collecting supplies and donations to bring to Gulf Coast State College's food and supply pantry known as "Michael's Pantry."
Volunteers from FGC said they had no idea they would be arriving on the six month anniversary but were happy it worked out that way.
John Holdnak, President of Gulf Coast State College, said, "Just to have a community spend time and energy helping my community in a way that's real and tangible, you know, they're bringing food, they're bringing cleanup supplies, they're bringing things that we still have people in need today, and it means more than I'll ever be able to express."
The GCSC campus has suffered nearly $40 million in hurricane damage.
Florida Gateway College President Lawrence Barrett said they will continue to donate and help out in months to come.
