In this week's Alachua County Bureau Farm Fact Brittany Lee discusses bell peppers.

Florida ranks second nationally in bell pepper production with 23,000 acres and accounts for most of the U.S. grown peppers eaten by Americans from October through June.

In 2014 Florida Bell Pepper crops generated over $164 Million in farm gate value. The Florida Bell Pepper growing season is November through May and they can be bought year-round. The most common varieties are Green to Red, 'Lady Bell,''Gypsy,''Bell Boy,' and 'Lipstick'. The Golden California Wonder is the yellow bell pepper.
