Fire at Gainesville apartment complex displaces residents

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -- Gainesville Fire Rescue says that on the morning of November 4, 2018, they responded to a building fire on SW 20th Avenue, about a mile away from Littlewood Elementary School for a fire.

They say the fire was put out quickly, and firefighters then search the other 7 apartments in the complex. They found that no one was hurt during the fire and that everyone had escaped unharmed.

Several of those residents could not return to their apartments that day, so Gainesville Police helped put them in contact with the American Red Cross to find them a temporary place to stay, as the entire building's electric systems were affected by the fire.

A Fire Investigator has not yet been able to determine the cause of the fire, as of Sunday evening.
