SUWANNEE CO., Fla. (WCJB) A fire in Suwanee county claimed a school building on the morning of Thursday, July 5.
The Superintendent of the Suwanee County School District, Ted Roush, says that a portable unit outside of the Suwanee County Primary School caught fire sometime overnight. The building was a complete loss.
School is out of session right now and no staff was on the property at the time, so there were no injuries.
The building was used for music class, storage of musical equipment, and occasionally for P.E. classes when the weather was bad.
Superintendent Roush says the Principal of the school is conducting an inventory of what had been in the building for insurance and replacement purposes.
The school district staff is meeting on Monday to discuss whether other classrooms can absorb the lost building's duties, or if they need to replace the portable building.
