(WCJB)-- Flags will be lowered to half-staff Wednesday at sunrise across Florida in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Governor DeSantis ordered the lowering of flags as a way to honor law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty.

Sergeant Noel Ramirez and Deputy Taylor Lindsey of the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office are two heroes that will be honored in Washington, D.C. Wednesday.

Their names will be etched into the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial as part of National Police Week.
