Off-Broadway play, "Florida Man," Wraps up Auditions in Gainesville
Everyone's heard about "Florida Man".
It's a phrase that populates most media headlines And it's come to embody the unusual behavior of some residents in the Sunshine State.
And a playwright is using that motif in an upcoming play titled "Florida Man."
Open auditions wrapped up Monday night for the play staged at the Acrosstown Repertory Theatre on 619 S. Main Street.
The dark comedy was written by Michael Presley Bobbitt, who's also a Gainesville native. The play follows the story about a man who digs up his deceased father to give him the Viking funeral he always wanted.
Performances of "Florida Man" will run from October 24 through November 10 with showings Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
