A Florida teaching union is making its way across the state to support certain issues. They are highlighting two specific issues. They are advocating for an increase in teacher pay and adding more art classes to the state education system.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his support for an increase in teacher pay.

The Florida Education Association is stopping in Gilchrist, Bradford, and Alachua Counties. The FEA is the biggest teaching union in Florida.

They are traveling on the FEA bus and stopping at a variety of area schools. The bus will stop at Bell and Southside Elementary, as well as the Alachua County Education Union Hall tonight in Gainesville.

As they travel across the state they hope to speak with people about public education. They hope these efforts will motivate lawmakers to fund at least two billion dollars in education next year.

The union is going to visit Hawthorne Middle-High tomorrow afternoon.
