GFR sees increase in extrications this month
There is an increase in the number of extrications performed by Gainesville Fire Rescue this month.
GFR posted to social media that so far in September there has been 1 extraction every five days.
"Some of them have been just your standard extrication where vehicle accidents collide and we have to remove metal to get patients out. We odd have one that involved a car catching on fire and so we had to simultaneously try to extricate victims while we were trying to extinguish the fire so that posed some difficult challenges," said Sean Campbell, District Chief Station #8.
Campbell says that GFR recommends that when first responders are working on an extrication that drivers remain focused on the roads to avoid a secondary accident.
