Gainesville Regional Airport gets new security machine
Gainesville Regional Airport now has a new baggage screening system that is making TSA check ins faster.
The machine is similar to a CT scan machine so agents do not have to open up bags to see what is inside.
"So we can do oversized bags. When the golf team comes through we're all set to screen the whole golf team, just like that you know, instead of having to open every set of golf clubs. So Gainesville Regional Airport is on track to really do wonderful things this year,” Gainesville Regional Airport Transportation Security Manager Frank Stagl, said.
Stagl also says the new machine has doubled their ability to screen in bags.
Within the next year, GNV is planning to make it so passengers will not have to drop their bags off at the machine, instead airline agents would just take bags to the back to scan them.
