GAINESVILLE, Fla. Gainesville Roller Rebels hosted a 'Derby 101' session at the Alachua County Fairgrounds today teaching people how to skate safely and learn more about the team.
The team is looking for non-skating officials, referees, and volunteers.
The lead liaison of the team, Ashley Flattery, joined after graduating college and enjoyed roller derby ever since.
"We get to come here and be tough and competitive and have fun and hang out with each other and it's just a really good time and that's what made it so I've stayed in Gainesville since 2012 and a big part of my life has been roller derby," Flattery said
Their next game is Saturday September 29th at 6 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Multipurpose Center.
