The Gainesville city commission has approved a proposal to raise the age limit of buying tobacco products

Alachua County spokesperson, Mark Sexton, says a letter will be sent to the Alachua County commission, recommending the age limit be raised to 21.

The State of Florida has laws that may pre-empt any local ordinances when it comes to tobacco sales, so Alachua County staffers are researching options to enforce the new age limit.
