Gainesville commissioners move to limit number of animals allowed in homes

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- After an outcry, Gainesville City leaders are now creating a limit on the number of animals you can have at your home.

In Thursday's city commission meeting, Commissioner Harvey Ward presented a motion to match Alachua County's Ordinance.

The county allows owners to have a limit of 10 per species. City commissioners unanimously passed it.

Staffers will now research and write up the ordinance. Commissioners will then have two hearings before it can pass.
