GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- A 55-year-old was taken into custody Saturday after deputies said he got into an argument with his neighbor and threatened to shoot him with an airsoft rifle.

According to an arrest report, the victim and a witness said they had been talking about gopher tortoises when Dwight Richard Gambs walked around their home.

The two approached Gambs and an argument ensued.

Detectives said the victim asked Gambs to leave and walked him to the fence line that separated their properties.

The victim said Gambs then came back outside, yelling “I will shoot you” and holding a rifle.

The victim said he feared for his life and left the area.

Gambs told deputies he did not own a rifle but later admitted to owning an airsoft rifle. However, the victim believed the rifle to be a regular one.

Based on statements by the victim and witness, Gambs was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
