Gainesville man arrested for injuring another man with meat cleaver

GAINESVILLE, Fla., (WCJB) -- A Gainesville man has been arrested after being accused of grabbing a cleaver and swinging it towards another man on Tuesday.

According to a report by the Gainesville Police Department, Carlton Thomas, 27, of Gainesville was arguing with the victim and was told to leave the home along Northwest 6th Avenue..

The report stated that Thomas then grabbed a meat cleaver that was on a nearby table and approached the victim in his living room. Thomas allegedly started swinging the cleaver towards the victim and causing a two inch cut on his face.

Thomas then fled the scene after the victim told him that he was going to call the police, according to the report.

Gainesville Police were able to locate and arrest Thomas. He is charged with aggravated battery and is currently in the Alachua County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
