Gainesville man in jail after knife attacks near Grace Marketplace

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)- Manuel Moreno, 35, of Gainesville is in jail after police say he cut two people near Grace Market Place in East Gainesville Wednesday night.

According to the police report, Moreno was fighting with the first victim near a bus stop.

The victim told police Moreno took out a blade and cut his arm.

Moreno was later found on Waldo Rd.

When police were questioning Moreno, a second victim stated Moreno also cut him under his armpit after an argument over cigarettes. The victim stated he thought he was punched but then felt the wet blood running down his arm.

A witness said she observed both incidents and stated the weapon was possibly a brown and white knife.

Moreno is being charged with two counts of aggravated battery and giving false identification to an officer.

He's currently at the Alachua County Jail on a $505,000 bond.
