GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- A 28-year-old man was arrested, Friday, after Gainesville police say he got into an argument with a former friend of his and stabbed him twice.

According to his arrest report, Anthony Roy Gowe Jr. was with the victim at a Checkers on West University Avenue just after midnight.

Police said the two started to argue over money. That’s when, they said, Gowe pulled out a pair of metal cutters and stabbed the victim twice.

The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was said to have non life-threatening injuries.

Gowe ran from the scene but was later captured. He denied stabbing the victim, however, the weapon was found among a pile of items dumped from Gowe’s purse.

Upon being brought to the jail, Gowe was asked if he had any illegal items on him. He told police he did not, but detectives said, they found a small baggie containing Molly.

Gowe was booked into the Alachua County Jail. He’s charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and bringing contraband into a detention facility.
