“I kept saying you’re kidding, I just kept saying it over and over again, you’re kidding I just couldn’t believe it,” said Nakisha Mayo, single mother of two.

Mayo was nominated by the St. Francis House in Gainesville, to be the recipient of a donated car as part of the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides Program.

“We thought she would be wonderful for it, we knew her children, it was going to cost her more and she and her children are just very deserving,” said Rita Lawrence, Acting Executive Director for St. Francis House.

Along with St. Francis House, several other local organizations collaborated to make the special moment possible.

“We wanted to try and see what we can do to contribute so with us Gatorland Collision Center, Enterprise, the National Auto Body Council and United Way we all jumped in together and were able to help Nakisha,” said Daniel Cappola, Auto Damage Supervisor for Geico.

Nakisha says the car will make her and her two children's commute easier, but it wasn’t the only gift she received.

“The struggle is worth it because there’s blessings that come from struggling it's not in vain. This is the best Christmas present I’ve ever received ever, so that's all I can say,” said Mayo.
