GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- The city of Gainesville is seeking applicants for the newly-established Charter Review Commission.
In March, Gainesville voters approved a regularly established process for reviewing and placing charter amendments on the ballot.
The Charter Review Commission will be created once every decade to talk to the community and create a list of potential changes to the city charter.
“When they're looking at the city charter, they will have up until May 2020 to make their final recommendations to the City Commission,” city of Gainesville spokesperson Chip Skinner said. “The application process which is available on the city’s website has some detailed questions there and they also asked for them to answer why they would like to be a part of the committee and a copy of their resume as well so that they know there isn’t any conflict of interest."
The deadline to apply is May 9 and the City Commission will appoint the 11-member body on May 16 during their meeting.
All Gainesville residents are eligible to apply.
