GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Steve Spurrier, acclaimed football coach and Heisman trophy winner, announced his plans to open a new restaurant at Celebration Pointe.

The restaurant, titled Spurrier's, is slated to open during the summer of 2020. Spurrier, who has no restaurant management experience, is looking for a partner to help run daily operations. He is looking for a proven professional with the necessary skills to open and run Spurrier's.

So where did Spurrier get the motivation to open a new restaurant? Look no further than his daughter, Amy. He said his daughter told him he needs to get involved with a restaurant so he has some place to put all of his sport trophies and memorabilia.

The new restaurant will be 8,400 square feet, serve traditional American cuisine and contain a 1,500 square foot sports memorabilia exhibit, highlighted by Spurrier's 1966 Heisman Trophy.

Spurrier hopes his restaurant is known for its food and service, but is also a fun spot to watch a sports game and get a look into his sports career.
