Get ready for Florida's tax-free shopping weekend

A tax-free weekend in Florida is underway until 11:59pm on August 6th.

That means it's your opportunity to save at least 6% in state and local taxes on several items such as pieces of clothing up to $60 each, pairs of shoes up to $60, school or office supplies up to $15 each, as well as computers and accessories up to $1,000 each when purchased for noncommercial or personal use.

Better yet, this includes online purchases as well as those made in-store.

Here's a list of other items that qualify:

• accessories like belt buckles, hairbands and sweatbands, hairclips, hairnets, headbands, neckwear, scarves and neckties, suspenders, ties and bowties, etc.

• aprons and clothing shields

• bandannas

• bathing suits and caps

• children's bicycle helmets

• blank CD's

• blouses

• boots, excluding ski or fishing boots

• bowling shoes

• braces and supports

• bras and lingerie, excluding corsages and boutonnieres

• car adapters for laptop computers

• choir and altar clothing

• cleated and spiked shoes

• clerical vestments and religious clothing

• coats and jackets

• coin purses, handbags, purses, and wallets

• costumes

• coveralls

• CPU's (central processing units)

• diaper bags

• diapers and diaper inserts for both babies and adults

• fanny packs

• fishing vests for non-flotation purposes

• graduation caps and gowns

• headphones

• hosiery and pantyhose

• hunting vests

• lab coats

• martial arts attire

• non-recreational software, such as word-processing or antivirus programs

• printers and printer accessories

• shawls and wraps

• shoe inserts and insoles

• storage drives, including USB's and other portable hard drives

• tablets and electronic book readers

• uniforms for athletic activities, school, and work as well as Scouting uniforms
