GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)- For the 19th year in a row, residents gathered in Downtown Gainesville to celebrate the lighting of a giant menorah.
Wednesday night is the fourth night of Hanukkah and in addition to the middle candle, four candles are now lit.
Members of the Jewish community say the holiday of Hanukkah is all about the triumph of light over darkness.
"The idea is that we are always increasing and always bringing more light into the world and we like to do this in public places so that we spread that light outwards and it radiates outwards,” Aaron Notik, the Program Director, said.
The Lubavitch Chabad Jewish Community Center holds the Hanukkah celebration every year.
