ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- Lake Forest Elementary briefly went into lockdown on Thursday after a parent of a student there made a comment that made others concerned for her safety.
In a Facebook post made around 1:00pm by Alachua County Public Schools, they said that the lockdown was a precaution and that there was nothing happening on campus. They did not want parents coming to pick up children during that time.
Lt. Brett Rhodenizer of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office said that the lockdown happened after the mother of a student at Lake Forest made some comments that made others concerned for her safety, and to avoid that parent coming to Lake Forest while in the midst of a crisis, the decision was made to place the school on lockdown.
Deputies were able to make contact with that parent and are now working with her to get her the help she needs. The lockdown was lifted around 1:40pm.
