NEWBERRY, Fla. (WCJB)-- April is National Financial Literacy month and Newberry High School students learned how to be responsible with their money.

The course is taught through the Ramsey Education's Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum.

The course teaches students how to invest money, balance a budget, and the course gives an introduction to taxes.

“I've learned a lot,” Newberry High School senior Amanda Hurts said. “I actually got a job finally and this class has helped me save money and set it aside for college. So I won't be in debt and I'll have money left over to figure out what I want to do with life."

Ramsey Education is a part of Ramsey Solutions which is a company that helps people regain control of their money and build wealth.

Other local high schools that offer the curriculum are Gainesville High School, Santa Fe High School, Eastside High School, and Buchholz High School.
