MCSO investigates motel shooting leaving 1 dead

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office are investigating a shooting last night at a motel just south of Ocala.

Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office are still at the Sun Day's Motel conducting their investigation.

They've been here all day searching the area.

At 6:45 Sunday night, deputies were called out to the Sun Days Motel for a report of a shooting.

When they arrived they found that the victim, 33-year-old Cornelius Brown, had been taken to a hospital by some people nearby.

He died due to his injuries in the hospital.

"They're still investigating to find out how many shooters were there, what the circumstances surrounding this and we're not quite 24 hours into this so there's still a lot developing and being investigated and followed up on,” Public Information Director, for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Paul Bloom.

There have been no arrests made yet, as deputies continue their investigation.

At this point, officials are saying that they believe there is no concern for the public
