Man arrested after firing rifle outside Suwannee County bar

SUWANNEE CO., Fla. (WCJB)-- Suwannee County Sheriff's got a call at around 1:45 AM Monday morning about a man shooting a rifle at the Keg Room Bar on SR 247.

Once deputies arrived on scene the man had already left. They found a male victim, who said that while he was trying to take the rifle away from the suspect, the gun went off and a bullet hit his shirt.
A second victim said that the suspect pointed the rifle at her and fired at least one round at her. Fortunately, neither victim suffered any injuries.

According to deputies they later found the suspect's truck crashed nearby. He fled the scene of the crash but with the help of the K-9 Team, he was found hiding in the floorboard of a car in the 22000 block of 35th Drive and was taken into custody.

He was identified as David Paul Mankamyer, 42, from Port St. Lucie, a six-time convicted felon.

David was taken to the Suwannee County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Use of a firearm under the influence of alcohol, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, resisting arrest without violence, and trespassing.

The Florida Highway Patrol is also investigating the traffic crash and additional charges are pending that investigation.
