Man killed after van steers off road in Marion County

29-year-old Anthony Ippolito died Saturday evening after the Florida Highway Patrol said he failed to make a turn and steered off the road.

According to state troopers, Ippolito was driving east on County Road 42 near Southeast 248th Terrace around 9:39 p.m. when he failed to make a turn in the road.

He then lost control and the van spun onto the north shoulder where it hit a tree.

Ippolito died at the scene. Troopers said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
