Man's body found in Spring Lake near where swimmer went missing
Officials have found a man’s body in Spring Lake near Keystone Heights.
This is the same lake where Sean Leverette, 27, went missing after swimming with his friends on Friday.
Officials have not confirmed the identity of the body yet but family members say the body is Leverette’s.
"He was a good brother, he was a veteran. He did a lot of good things in his life,” Dave Leverette, Sean’s brother, said.
Authories and the community spent several days looking for Leverette.
“Spring lake is predominantly private property, the residents have been more than cooperative. They’ve been checking their properties, checking homes, the vacant homes around.” Chris Padgett, Public Information Officer for Clay County Sheriff’s Office, said.
On Tuesday afternoon, deputies say a man's body was spotted after it surfaced in that same lake.
Hours later, the body was recovered by a diving team.
“At this time we are not able to make a positive identification,” Dep. Padgett said.
Leverette’s brother says he’s still questioning what really happened because his brother was a good swimmer.
"Why would your friends leave you in any situation? It doesn't make sense. None of that makes sense,” he said.
Deputies don’t suspect foul play at this time but they still have to wait on results from the Medical Examiner to identify the body.
