TAMPA/MARION CO., Fla (WCJB) -- Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Ocala Police Department have a lot to celebrate after bringing home the gold and much more from the First Responder Games in Tampa.

Mounted units participated in equestrian sports and several deputies participated in weightlifting events.

They brought home a combined 11 gold medals, four silver medals, and four bronze medals.

Sergeant Mike Mongeluzzo with MCSO participated in the power-lifting competition, winning a silver medal.

"I came home with one, the silver medal in the 50 and over age group. It's validation on all of my training. It's a good thing, again it's about comradery and getting into shape," he said.

For those not familiar, the First Responder Games is an Olympic-style competition held in Florida every year. This event is for police, fire, paramedics, EMTs, military service members, and federal agents.

It’s expected to wrap up on Saturday.
