(WCJB)-- Wednesday we celebrate the crucial ingredient the chocolate chip! May 15th is National Chocolate Chip Day.
We have Ruth Graves Wakefield of Massachusetts to thank for the tiny bit of heaven that is the chocolate chip. Back in 1937, she broke up chunks of a semi-sweet chocolate bar to include in a cookie recipe.
Her creation caught on, obviously. By 1941, Nestle was producing pre-made chips, no chopping required.
Since then, we have learned that chocolate chips go in all kinds of food. So celebrate by finding something with chocolate chips and chow down.
