GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- After a decade of troubled finances, there's a fresh start for north central Florida YMCA.
New CEO Angela Howard met the public Thursday night. She spent 14 years working with the YMCA and is excited to take on the challenge of making it a place of stability after years of financial struggles.
One of the biggest hurdles is the old infrastructure. Howard says fixing up old buildings and getting new equipment are two of the many tasks she is ready to tackle.
"We do know we have some facility needs here so we're going to start working and building in our house and building with our facility looking at the building, getting everything we need up to par with the building and then in return we're going to be that social gathering place that's going to impact people every single day," said Howard.
Howard went on to say the YMCA will continue to focus on youth development, healthy living, and teaching social responsibility.
