New free-standing emergency room opens in Northwest Gainesville

Patients in Northwest Gainesville now have better access to an emergency room.

North Florida Regional Medical Center opened its new free-standing emergency medical center at the corner of NW 53rd Ave. and 43rd St.

The center offers all the same services as their main center.

North Florida Regional recently opened another emergency room on 39th Ave. in Gainesville.

The recent expansion of these type of facilities is a result of the growth the hospital has seen.

"Because of the overcrowding in emergency rooms all across the country, we found that this will ease those kinds of problems so we can take care of those same type of patients and not have to be in a big emergency room," said Jack Stout, the Director of the Free-Standing Emergency Department at Noth Florida Regional.

The new facility is open 24 hours and 7 days a week.
