GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- We're keeping an eye on a tropical disturbance south of the Florida Panhandle, about 170 miles ESE of the mouth of the Mississippi River. As of midday it is moving WSW at around 8 mph. Conditions are favorable for this system to strengthen and it could become a tropical depression or storm over the next 24 hours. While it is pulling away from Florida, the National Hurricane Center is advising people in Louisiana to pay close attention to the future track of the system.
